Important Updates Regarding COVID-19
As the spread of COVID-19 continues to affect us all in various ways, we at the Available Warehouses Team wanted to directly share any crucial updates and information regarding the city of Los Angeles that may be directly relevant to you, your company, and your families.
On March 13th, Los Angeles City Planning (LACP) released an email regarding “Planning4LA during COVID-19”. Within this notice, LACP has announced that regularly scheduled meetings of LA commissions and boards will be cancelled until at least April 6th, 2020: this includes the Cultural Heritage Commission, City Planning Commission, Area Planning Commissions, Historic Preservation Overlay Zone Boards, Design Review Boards, and all Public Hearings with the Department’s Office of Zoning Administration. However, LACP also announced that all Development Services Centers (DSC) will remain open with the following restrictions: all public counters available by appointment only, appeals may still be filed for in person, cashiering functions will continue at all DSC locations.
On March 15th, the Los Angeles’ Mayor Eric Garcetti released a Public Order Under City of LA Emergency Authority placing temporary restrictions on LA until March 31st, though stating these may be extended. The restrictions include closing bars and nightclubs that don’t serve food, preventing restaurants and retails from serving food for consumption on premises, and closing movie theatres / bowling alleys / performance venues / arcades / gyms to the public. The order also notes that during this Emergency, no landlord shall be able to evict a residential tenant if the tenant is unable to pay rent due to circumstances revolving around COVID-19.
Yesterday on March 16th, the Central City Association (CCA) also released an email in response to the CDC updates. Within this email, the CCA announced that the CDC has recommended that for the next 8 weeks all in-person events occupying more than 50 people be cancelled, please check the CCA website for information regarding virtual meetings. The CCA has also asked that during these difficult times we all consider ways that we can help various CCA organizations such as donating to homeless social service providers and other non-profits that have had to cancel fundraising events, booking a “staycation” in DTLA, purchasing gift cards / take out from restaurants, online shopping from DTLA retails, and donating to the COVID-19 fund (https://mayorsfundla.org/covid19/). The US Small Business Administration is also working with state governors to offer disaster assistance loans up to $2 M for small businesses suffering substantial economic injury from the spread of COVID-19.
